Bixbyite from this remote but world famous Utah locale is known for its beautiful form and incredible luster. This is an exceptional 2.3 x 2.3 x 1.8 cm mirror-luster, isometric, diploidal single crystal with grains of matrix on backside contact. It has stunning symmetries to it, and sharp detail to the edges. It is one of the finest examples of a single crystal from this locale, hands down, and is just gorgeous and sparkling in-person in way that few black colored minerals achieve. Ex. Lavinsky specimen (I obtained it from the Dick Hauck collection long ago). Photo by Jingnan Zhang. Featured in the book, Refined Elegance (Mineralogical Record, Nov. 2022) on page 138.
