This is perhaps the most surprising Peruvian find ever, in my book, from a discovery of the late 1990s. The gypsum is superb in its own merit, glassy and gemmy, colorless crystals of gypsum to 3 cm in length. But, the amazing beauty of these, at their best, is because of the combination of species here when it has such stark contrast and shape as does this fine miniature. The gypsum crystals are water clear and are included by lustrous, deep green crystals of atacamite. Only a very few specimens at the time had the quality you see here. Unique, and a very showy specimen!
