Golden Selenite (Gypsum) from Peru sets an aesthetic masterpiece level for this species that is just hard to beat, and years later most of us still consider these to be the finest gypsums overall for combination of color and style. This is an elegant small cabinet specimen from the discoveries, from the early 2000s. The combination of sharp form, brilliant luster, and golden color, makes these the "jewels" of the Selenite world. These were once common for a brief while in the early 2000's, but truly outstanding pieces like this were never available widely and were always expensive, even at the time they came out, compared to the average pieces with more clumped appearance. This lustrous 4.5 cm tall and 3.2 cm wide Selenite crystal is completely gem and is a rich golden-yellow color. To top it off, this gorgeous crystal is twinned! It sits nicely and slightly offset on a cluster of numerous, smaller, bladed golden Selenite crystals to 1.5 cm. This is a perfect small cabinet specimen with balance, poise, color and luster. It literally glows in a cabinet. We often dismiss gypsum as a collectible species but it is widely considered that the specimens of this particular style stand above the rest, and it has the color and sparkle to shine in a case like fancier species.
