In 2019 and into 2020, a few small pockets were discovered in this famous mine, revealing gorgeous multicolored arsenopyrites. Interestingly, we had not seen such crystals since the old days of the late 1990s, when a few came out (one of which I still have). The color is due to an effect like a tarnish, caused by a natural reaction of water and oxygen in the air with the slight impurities in the arsenopyrite, and is quite unusual in the species (although seen infrequently here and in Portugal as well). These particular crystals, from a few small pockets, combine sharp form, electric color palettes, and - critically - fine luster. This is one of the finer examples in the size that I know of, for the condition, shape, and consistency of the coloration. It is a stunning, 3-dimensional full size miniature specimen of competition quality. It is complete all around as I would display it. We personally brought these out of China, and took pride in buying all we could.
