Here is a classic and very aesthetic Japan-law twinned Quartz specimen from modern finds in China. This relatively large, transparent twin is perfect in form and composed of two, lustrous slightly flattened quartz crystals with faintly developed horizontal striations perpendicular to the c-axis. The two twin components measure 6.6 and 4.4 cm in length, respectively, producing a dramatic flaring shape like a checkmark. A small piece of matrix at the base hosts numerous small, transparent to translucent Quartz crystals ranging in size from 2 mm to 2.3 cm and the twin components also host a few sidecar Quartz crystals. This textbook twin has excellent composition and balance and is in perfect condition. For a Chinese Japan law twinned quartz, it is certainly among finest in size class.
