Glistening pastel blue smithsonite crystals coat this specimen from the novel 2021 find at Yanga Koubenza. Reminiscent of finds at the Kelly mine, the smithsonite and aurichalcite specimens recovered here, at their best, show remarkable color saturation, interesting form, and wonderful aesthetics. Unlike many of the more massive botryoidal examples, this specimen features smaller globular formations of small, sparkling crystals, making for a striking specimen under light. This is perhaps the best specimen (at least, of what we have seen) for this sugary, sparkling, glistening style. It flashes so bright, you can see it across a room. The uniform pastel blue color juxtaposed with a frame of tan-brown matrix around the periphery creates wonderful contrast on this aesthetic small cabinet. This specimen is the finest of this style from the lot we obtained of the high graded specimens from the few pockets found.
