Purple-blue Fluorite cubes on this piece from the ancient Beihilfe lead-zinc mine in Germany are dusted with bright little Chalcopyrite crystals. The display face of this piece is covered with glassy, zoned, transparent to translucent, 0.7 to 2.2 cm Fluorite crystals that display subtle zoning. Much of the interior of the crystals are dominated by a medium purple-blue, translucent core with an outer 3 to 4 mm zone of transparent, pale blue. Faces and edges of the Fluorite cubes are sharp and lustrous with one corner ding and a small bruise to another crystal and there is contacting around the periphery. Numerous 1 to 2 mm, bright Chalcopyrite crystals dust the Fluorites for added appeal. It sits nicely in the custom engraved acrylic base that accompanies the piece. An old classic, ex Sam Cooper fluorite collection.
