Fine heliodor beryl crystals of this style are rarely seen these days from anywhere except Ukraine. This stunning yellow-green gem crystal is, however, from India! The robust heliodor crystal has incredibly high luster, an almost sculpted pyramidal termination and the prism faces all have elongated, etched patterns oriented to the length of the crystal which give it a subtle complexity. There have only been a few small pockets that contained these heliodors from a small pegmatite in Orissa and most of the crystals are being cut for gem rough so they did not ever make it out to the mineral market. This is from one pocket in 2019, one of the few preserved. The light colored wispy inclusions are a form of clay, and add to the beauty of the specimen as well as making it distinct in appearance from Ukrainian heliodors. The mass is 153.2 grams.
