Gold (wire crystalline)
Yuba Mine Greaterville, Pima Co., Arizona, USA
Thumbnail, 2.8 x 1.3 x 1.0 cm
Ex. Jennie Areson
SOLD

This is a robust, very impressive crystalline gold specimen from one of the rarest of USA gold localities. Slender intergrown wires of gold have formed a nested appearance, thus adding to its overall beauty. A few tiny quartz crystals are attached at the base. According to MINDAT: Workings include underground openings comprised of 4 inclined shafts sunk on the southern vein. The deepest is reported at about 100 feet deep. Worked in the 1880's. This specimen was obtained by Jennie in Tucson in 1985. If you are going to collect thumbnail or locality golds, this is among the rarest possible to own, from a USA locality.
