The Shangbao Mine has produced some great Fluorite specimens, many complex ones where the octahedron becomes the prominent overall form - and rarely it has produced Fluorite crystals that are largely cubic, like this one. One main cube and three subsidiary crystals embellish a plate of small, transparent to milky Quartz crystals. The main crystal and one other Fluorite display prominently with and both have a core area that displays alternating dark and light purple phantoms. The outer zone on both of these and the dominant color on the other two smaller crystals are a very pale purple. These purple Fluorites contrast nicely with the white Quartz crystal matrix! From the late 1990's or early 2000's production here, ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection.
