Fluorites from Mt. Antero, especially good ones like this, are highly coveted by both miners and collectors alike. This sharp octahedron is actually quite gemmy, but the silky luster masks it on the photos, though it is quite evident in person. The purple color is particularly rich along the edges and surfaces, creating a very nice zoning effect at the proper angles. Overall, this 3-dimentional Fluorite is excellent, with appeal for many collectors. Formerly in the collections of Arthur Montgomery and the British Museum before landing with Kay. It must have come out before 1939, as it was in the BMNH by then. Very good fluorescence.
