Brazilianite from the old 1940s finds of the Bancroft era of gem exploration in Brazil still sets the standard. There is nothing like these, to this day. This specimen is a multiply terminated single crystal that displays elegantly from the front display view. It has minor damage and contact on the back, out of sight. This crystal has the top color, transparency, and luster you would want and is from these original finds (the style is so completely different from any other style of the species later found elsewhere, that there is simply no question as to what is real and what is not, in this regard). See the 1984 book by Dr. Peter Bancroft, Gem & Crystal Treasures for more information on this find. Joe Budd photos. Ex Bill Larson collection.
