Here we have a trio of unusual rare earth-bearing carbonate minerals in a matrix of alkali olivine basalt from Japan. The specimen is host to white to off-white, tufts and aggregates of acicular to fibrous kozoite-(Nd), lanthanite-(Nd), and kimuraite-(Y) that occur as vesicle fillings. The specimen originates from Niikoba, Hizen-chi, Higashi Matsuura-gun, Saga Prefecture, Japan, the type locality for both kozoite-(Nd) and kimuraite-(Y). Ex. Paulo Matioli collection.
