Smithsonite (Cadmian Rich) Ps. After Dolomite
Small Cabinet, 7.3 x 5.2 x 3.0 cm
Philadelphia mine, Rush, Rush Creek District, Marion Co., Arkansas, USA
Ex. Dr. Art Soregaroli
An extremely colorful, fine miniature from old workings at this famous locality with the most intense yellow color of any I have seen. The original saddle-shaped and curvaceous Dolomite crystals, clearly preserved in form by the pseudomorphing Smithsonite, show elegant curvature and are up to 8 mm in size. This piece stands out because they are nicely isolated on matrix instead of forming a solid coating, as is more common. An aesthetic and classic pseudomorph, this is a pristine, exquisite, old-time specimen. Such pieces are simply not available on the market.
