Smithsonite

From the collection of Rob Smith, a large plate of finely-formed, translucent smithsonite crystals, with a yellow-tan color. In some places you can see complex compound crystals. The luster is somewhere between silky and vitreous. This is an unusual color for a Tsumeb smithsonite, and probably results from cadmium (making it cadmian smithsonite). A big, rich smithsonite from perhaps the world's greatest mineral locality!
