Quartz, Hedenbergite, Goethite
San Antonio Mine (San Antonio el Grande Mine), East Camp, Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdan, Chihuahua, Mexico
Cabinet, 11.0 x 9.1 x 4.2 cm
This plate of glassy, flashy quartz from the Glover collection is distinctive due to the rich inclusions of hedenbergite and goethite, which give the crystals a rich mossy color. Fine quartz specimens are unusual from the San Antonio Mine, and actually, except for the amethyst variety, are not all that common from Mexico in general.
