Poldervaartite, Calcite
N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Small Cabinet, 6.5 x 5.3 x 1.2 cm
SOLD
Very fine specimen of the rare nesosilicate Poldervaartite from the Kalahari. The flesh-colored crystals, which are translucent to gemmy, have superb luster and range up to 1 cm in length. And not only are some of them nicely isolated, but they have the very attractive prismatic habit that at times morphs into bowties. An excellent, aesthetic specimen, especially with the small, lustrous calcites adding interest and contrast.
