A spectacularly deep green color, caused by copper infiltration during growth, makes these smithsonites from the 79 Mine the most desirable single find for the species on our continent to me. They are much more intense and rare than similarly formed specimens from Kelly Mine, which are blue hues. The color just pops out at you. I was there when George Stevens brought them to market in 1992, and I can well remember how few had this intense saturation of color to them. very few, indeed. This is a natural pocket, very attractive
