Chalcopyrite, Baryte
Dreislar Mine, Dreislar, Winterberg, Sauerland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Cabinet, 10.0 x 8.0 x 4.0 cm
Dreislar is one of the world's classic localities for baryte. It occurs as a snowy white, bladed material (as with this piece). However, this one is much more 3-dimensional and attractive than most such specimens I have seen, and has rich speckling of chalcopyrite crystals which really offset and highlight the snowy white color of the baryte. The piece is almost pristine.
