- Cole Mine (Cole shaft; Cole No. 3), Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
- Cabinet, 9.4 x 3.1 x 0.5 cm
A beautiful and unique azurite "board" from the Cole Shaft at Bisbee. Very rare. Lustrous, scalloped, light and dark sky-blue layered azurite rests on a thin matrix plate. The botryoidal azurite "eyes" at the base are a superb accent and look just like alligator or trilobite eyes. A truly fascinating and unusual specimen. The very rich Cole Shaft produced ore intermittently from 1905 to 1975. This is only the second such example, so far replaced, I have seen.
