The Bruno and Rolando Gioia Collection
NEW - Feb 24, 2021 - We are honored to announce that we have purchased the multigenerational Gioia collection, assembled over the heyday of modern Brazilian mineral collecting. A portion of the collection is also illustrated in the new book (December 2020) Mineral Collections of Brazil (including over a dozen specimens listed here). Rolando Gioia, a noted collector and a major contributor to the important book Minerals and Precious Stones of Brazil, was a lifelong collector. His son Bruno, continued the family tradition of mineral collecting even as he developed a career as a successful gem dealer and jewelry manufacturer based in Sao Paolo. Rolando was a schoolmate, contemporary and field partner with the late Luiz Menezes, and Bruno grew up going along on some of their amazing trips to mines and quarries in Brazil, as documented in his story in the recently published huge book (click here to see PDF of the Gioia chapter)
Under his noted father's tutelage, Bruno also developed a keen eye for mineral aesthetics, even as he followed his own career in gemstones and jewelry. You will see here this aesthetic taste in play, with a careful selection of unique pieces and combinations from the family collection. We are happy to present so many choice treasures, not seen except privately in Brazil until now. Look for many old classics from specific, rare finds. Enjoy!
