Aug 14, 2017 - Jouravskite is a very rare species in the Ettringite group, a dual sulfate and carbonate. In the past, it has been found as microcrystals, or coatings on the surface of larger ettringite crystals, but this single pocket of late December of 2016 marks the first time it has been found as superb, sharp primary crystals, setting new records for the species. We have waited over 6 months to see if more came out, and this seems to have been the only (small) pocket of the material. The luster is phenomenal and the color is literally lemon-peel yellow of the most saturated color imagineable, on these sparkling crystals. This pocket produced two styles of crystals, small sugary "sprinkles" on white matrix, and large disc-shaped crystals of world-record size.
