Jouravskite on Xonotlite
N'Chwaning III Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari MN field, Northern Cape Province, South Africa

Aesthetically perched on matrix is a cluster of glassy and gemmy, lemon-yellow jouravskite crystals, to 5 mm across. The contrasting matrix of chalky white xonotlite and sparkling second-generation jouravskite is gorgeous. This is a breathtaking, intense, beautiful large thumbnail that also just happens to be extremely significant for the species and the mine. It is one of our favorites of the pocket, for the dimensionality and color.
