Miniature, 3.6 x 3.0 x 2.6 cm
Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia
Broken Hill stolzite specimens, composed of lead tungstate, are sought after, but good ones like this are very hard to find. Translucent, lustrous, caramel colored, stolzite crystals, to 3.5 mm across, are perched on a limonitic matrix. Their tetragonal form is very evident. As a side note, Broken Hill is considered one of the top localities for this species. This particular specimen has very sharply developed crystals...most are simply more "simple" in form, but these look like they were carved fro ma textbook drawing
