Hambergite (Twinned)
Himalaya Mine, San Diego Co., California, USA
Miniature, 4.5 x 2.1 x 0.7 cm

Known primarily for its wonderful tourmaline specimens, the Himalaya Mine also produced a plethora of much rarer species like this beryllium borate: a hambergite specimen, showing remarkable twinning and a super termination. This specimen has a satiny luster, is translucent, and possesses a creamy white color. This is among the largest hambergites known from the mine and is particularly nice as the crystal has good form. It is somewhat less chakly-looking in person
