Hambergite is a relatively rare beryllium borate and the granite pegmatites of the Hindu Kush have supplied us with some of the finest pieces. This miniature consists of a large, white, translucent, tabular, twinned, orthorhombic crystal of Hambergite set on a matrix of of finely crystalline Hambergite-Kaolinite matrix that has a small, squat, doubly terminated Elbaite Tourmaline crystal penetrating the matrix and visible on both sides. The 3.3 cm-long Hambergite has a vitreous to almost silky luster and a sharp twin plane is very evident along the thin edge of the crystal as demarcated by a subtle, shallow V-shape. A very good twinned Hambergite from Stak Nala! From the old dealer stock of Herb Obodda, who brought it out many years ago
