Tourmaline Cluster with Lepidolite (floater)
Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Small Cabinet, 7.5 x 4.9 x 3.0 cm
SOLD

Unusually, we have here a complete floating cluster of tourmalines that must have grown in a nest of lepidolite, without real contacts to any matrix or other crystals. It is like a floating bowtie of crystals, all terminated and intact 360 degrees. Some terminations are not as shiny or smooth, but they are terminated and not broken. This is a rare occurrence, especially to be preserved without repairs, as they formed hundreds of millions of years ago! Older material, though how old we cannot say.
