This looks at first like a cavansite! The color is so hot, almost neon, and the richness so unusual for a specimen of this species. This miniature is in fact a SUPERB example of the relatively uncommon hydrated calcium, copper, zinc sulfate Serpierite, from the TYPE LOCALITY within the ancient Lavrion district. Attractive, medium-blue, radial clusters of sparkly and lustrous Serpierite crystals richly cover the matrix, forming balls up to 1 cm across. Collected in 2019, this miniature is exceptionally rich for any Serpierite from any era, and the pocket was said to be best of species for quality.
