Benitoite on Natrolite
California State Gem Mine, Santa Rita Peak, San Benito Co., California, USA
Miniature, 3.6 x 2.4 x 1.3 cm
SOLD

This is an aesthetic miniature matrix specimen of the California state gem species, Benitoite. It features a sharp and triply-terminated 1.2-cm crystal on the left that has exquisite luster and the best deep blue color. You could not ask for better. That crystal is sharp, translucent to transparent on the edges, and especially well developed with thick edge bevels (you can see in the video). Those thick and bevelled edges are more rare than the typical form of such crystals. Two other crystals add color and richness to the overall matrix, which also has white natrolite associated. There are bigger specimens, bigger crystals, but the quality here is noteworthy and stands out. From a small private collection, and surely an older specimen.
