This is an handsome golden yellow-green Prehnite miniature from the famous gem-bearing region where tanzanites come from, but is actually much more rare than the tanzanites in quality specimens. Several relatively coarse crystalline, translucent, interconnected Prehnite botryoids make up this lovely piece. They are so translucent that just a little backlighting shows the shadow of you finger behind it. The color is a captivating, almost glowing yellow-green and they all have excellent luster! The individual botryoids are composed of relatively distinct, 0.5 to nearly 1 cm crystals of Prehnite arranged in tight, fanned out, hemispherical aggregates with the individual slightly curving, tapered crystals being somewhat distinct and the faces scintillate, reflecting any incident light! The piece is matrixless which adds to its translucency since light shines through more easily. This is an attractive golden yellow-green Prehnite from Tanzania from circa 2010.
