Here is a rather large and significant matrix specimen showing a natural vug in a basalt matrix from this rare location in Connecticut, that is lined with brilliant, translucent, honey-yellow Prehnite botryoids! The initial whitish lining to the vug is probably Natrolite that is then covered with a beautiful, bubbly, transparent to translucent surface of almost wet looking Prehnite with individual botryoids averaging 5 to 6 mm across. The underlying white Natrolite really makes the gemmy Prehnite botryoidal surface glow! The vug itself measures over 7 cm across and is entirely coated. It's a really beautiful piece and it also shows the associations between the Prehnite and the vug filling in the host basalt. Color is unusual, the size and condition from here is unusual, and it displays well. We were told by Charlie that he self-collected them long ago (though I cannot recall which year).
