Celestite from Texas, or for that matter any well-crystallized mineral specimen from Texas, is rare. We almost never see pretty, gemmy crystals here. These crystals, collected along a riverbed southwest of Dallas near Austin, have historically produced these unique crystals with strong blue caps. Interestingly, they form differently in shape, as well as color pattern, compared to those from other locations, like the more plentiful examples of celestite from Morocco. This is a relatively big and complete example for the material, from an uncommon locality.
