This spectacular thumbnail specimen is as close to a jewel as a wulfenite thumbnail can get, and is from arguably THE best pocket of this material ever found with the best and most glassy transparent window panes combined with the best and most red and sparkling mimetite balls. It simply glows with color. Enough said! It is a large thumbnail and leaps out from any display. Wayne Thompson and Susie Davis helped bring this pocket to market in 1973. Few enough thumbnails were preserved, during the difficult collection and processing as they were initially collected by a Mexican dealer before the Americans tipped onto this and collected later pockets in 76 and 79 more professionally. This was certainly one of the best thumbnails and remains so. This was purchased by Ernie Schlichter in 1973, directly from Western Minerals' Gene Schlepp, who had a number of them for sale. Ernie's label documents this. It then passed with the core of Ernie's TN collection to Shields Flynn, where it has remained off-market for nearly 50 years! Note it was chosen as the cover for Shields' private book on the collection.
