Swiss quality, from Brazil?! Exquisitely emplaced on a matrix of lustrous and translucent, colorless quartz crystals to 1.7 cm in length, is a splendent cluster of dark jet black hematite crystals to 1.7 cm across. Just lovely! This is one of the prettiest examples of a Brumado hematite I have seen. Although "eisenrosen" rosettes are common from here in the past, they tend not to have good luster. This piece has EXCEPTIONAL luster, on par with the best of Swiss hematites, and really just sparkles in a case. A video can convey it better. This is likely an old specimen. It is from the noted family collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to the Minerals and Precious Stones of Brazil magnum opus book). If you did not know the history, it would be hard to believe this is Brazilian!
