A bright, eye-catching, doubly-terminated, totally gem "Herkimer diamond" specimen from the occurrences in Upstate New York, and at a boxbuster size, this is one of the finest thumbnail examples of this material I have ever seen (and I grew up in the Midwest!). This is a sensational display piece with an absolutely perfectly formed, doubly terminated quartz crystal perched adroitly on a sliver of matrix that is totally adorned with tiny quartz crystals for impeccable balance and composition! There is another small, and just as perfect quartz at the left rear of the piece for added aesthetics. This 3.2 cm crystal is so gemmy and lustrous the photos cannot adequately render how beautiful this piece is. Water clear with superb luster and totally complete 360 degrees! It is properly a "boxbuster thumbnail" or a toenail size as now called in Tucson. It could go well with suites of either miniatures or thumbnails. It is, literally, as close to a jewel as these come, perfectly balanced, on matrix. Ex. Irv Brown collection
