Hemimorphite on Aurichalcite on Hemimorphite
San Antonio Mine, Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico
Small Cabinet, 8.0 x 5.7 x 3.2 cm
Ex. Scott Williams; Kay Robertson
SOLD
Distinctive combination piece composed of a bright layer of vivid, blue-green Aurichalcite sandwiched between two generations of Hemimorphite. A unique old find, it seems - I have not seen similar. The Hemimorphite is an attractive blue-gray color, very easy on the eyes. The botryoidal form mirrors the layers below, and the exposed edges of the Hemimorphite show exceptional, sharp banding. Originally misidentified as Smithsonite, it was acquired in the 1950's from the personal collection of Scott Williams. This fine small cab was #1945 in Kay's collection.
