A rare crystallized anhydrite from Europe: Old-time (pre-1930) pair of interpenetrating Anhydrite crystals from the Bad Aussee District in Austria. The two large faces have a bright, textured luster, and the narrow faces on each side are cleaved. I have seen clusters before, but never a single crystal this large, or certainly this well-preserved considering it's age. Originally in the Ronald Falkenhagen Collection, it was purchased from him by German dealer Willy Hirsch in 1930 and then remained in Scott William's private collection until selling to Kay in July of 1960. So, this is probably from the 1800s. This is a very fine locality specimen, and I have not seen comparable for sale.
