Windowpane Wulfenites and red-orange Mimetites from Cerro Prieto make some of the enthralling combinations in the mineral world. This toenail is a classic specimen for there, featuring glassy, windowpane Wulfenites and rich, orange balls of Mimetite. The largest Wulfenite is 2.2 cm, and the Mimetites average 1-2 mm across. The San Francisco Mine is justifiably famous for these beautiful and aesthetic specimens. This piece, selected for Kay from the famous 1973 pocket by her dear friend the dealer Willard Perkin, is from the best combination pocket with the best color contrast, and has been with her since 1973. This is the best color contrast, from the 1973 pocket which really put this mine on the map for specimen collectors and has remained an iconic pocket and style ever since.
