Phlogopite Mica
Kiran, Kokcha Valley, Badakhshan, Afghanistan
Miniature, 4.6 x 4.5 x 3.9 cm
SOLD
This crystal, measuring approx. 4.5 cm across, has outstanding luster, great classic muscovite form, and exhibits a lovely, golden color. It has natural terminations, and is a floater. It is a BEAUTIFUL example of a gem mica from an unusual locality! These gemmy golden phlogopites are turning out to be among the world's great examples of the species, and have trickled out slowly for 3-4 years now. And, they are not that expensive for a 100-fold increase in quality over most previous finds of the species. The piece is gemmy (you can really see through it in most places, looking head-on), and literally glows an intense amber-gold color when backlit well.
