Orthoclase
Organ Mts, Organ District, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico, USA
Small Cabinet, 8.4 x 4.6 x 3.8 cm

Orthoclase usually does not make for very interesting specimens, and is mostly an accessory mineral on specimen of OTHER minerals (unless it is in the blue amazonite variety). But this is a very aesthetic specimen with elegant form and sharp, elongated crystals, from a lesser-known American locality. The crystals grew in parallel, terminating in a tiered arrangement. The cluster is complete all around and the terminations are all there on top.
