Ludwigite is a rare magnesium, iron borate and this old-time specimen is nearly solid ludwigite with just a bit of matrix. Radial aggregates of lustrous, black, metallic, acicular ludwigite crystals cover all surfaces on this piece. This is extremely uncommon material from the Alta Stock of Utah. Highly representative of the species and locale from the Mullane Collection and dates to the 1960s or 1970s.
