A superb, old-time, cabinet galena specimen from the Ballard Mine of the Kansas portion of the Tri-State District. Splendent, metallic galena cubes to 4.0 cm are aesthetically clustered on the chert matrix and nicely accented with marcasite cogwheels and some sphalerite crystals. A few of the galena crystal corners have octahedral modifications and there are scattered secondary galena overgrowths or "fortification" patterns that add character.
