Baryte, Cinnabar
Clarashall Mine, Ruschberg, Baumholder, Hunsruck Mts, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Small Cabinet, 7.5 x 4.4 x 2.1 cm
A few bright red tiny cinnabar crystals are included in very glassy, parallel-growth, transparent baryte crystals on this classic specimen from a famed German locale - the Clarashall Mine. The oxide-tinted crystals have sharp beveled edges. This baryte mine closed in the early 1970s. Excellent material from the Jaime Bird Collection.
