Smithsonite Var. Cobaltian With Cerussite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Miniature, 4.7 x 3.6 x 1.7 cm
Ex. Ed Ruggiero
SOLD
Unusually sharp, dusty-pink scalenohedral crystals of Cobaltian Smithsonite on matrix, with a bladed cyclic twin of Cerussite. The largest Smithsonite is 1.7 cm, and the Cerussite is 1 cm. Many of the Smithsonites are clustered along the top, as is the Cerussite, which gives the piece an excellent orientation for maximum aesthetics. The luster on the Cerussite is glassy, and the Smithsonite's luster is excellent - the classic shiny and silky that we have come to expect. A terrific miniature from the Ed Ruggeiro collection, purchased directly in 1976 from the Zweibels.
