For its size, this is one of the finest zincite specimens I have seen. The bright, translucent, cherry red crystal, 2.0 cm in length, is aesthetically perched on matrix. It has a repair midways, but its hard to see and all in context here, doesn't bother me so much to know its there (its very hard to see!). This rare specimen is obviously an old timer as very little has come from Franklin since the 1940s. Just magnificent! I first had this piece 12-13 years ago and got it back recently, in a thumbnail collection purchase. Small world! I remembered it, though, as its one of the more memorable display quality thumbs of the species around. It has a very clean repair about the midline. If I had not done the repair myself all those years ago, I wouldn't even know or suspect, as its a very tight fit. Still and all, displays liek a world class thumbnail of the species and is a historic piece where you have to take such things in context, I feel.
