Formula: NiO - the simple nickel oxide. This is an EXTREMELY RARE nickel species and German rarity as well. This specimen, with a rich coating of microcrystals on the front surface, is likely from the type find, I am told (though there is no way to prove it now), as it was in the American Museum by the late 1800s with catalogue number 5305 there. From the rarities suite of Lawrence Conklin, who exchanged it from the American Museum of Natural History. Year of Discovery: 1858 at this, the type locality.
