- Christiana Mine, Lavrion, Lavreotiki, Attica, Greece
- Thumbnail, 2.9 x 2.4 x 2.1 cm
- Ex. Christos Spiromitros
Beautifully displayed on the end of an Azurite stalk, this 2.4 cm rosette of Azurite is from the Christiana Mine in Lavrion. The luster and the saturated blue color are both very good, and when you view the piece from the side you can see just how the Azurites literally blossomed. In fact, the symmetry and round shape of the rosette is so uniform I would almost rather liken it to a chrysanthemum. Such a balanced presentation of of this floral growth on stalk creates an unusually good aesthetic for this thumbnail. Collected in 2012 from this well-known Azurite find.
