Sharp and well-defined, this 3.1 cm Azurite blade rises up perfectly from the matrix in this attractive miniature from the Christiana Mine in Lavrion. The excellent luster and deep-blue color are classic characteristics for Azurites from Tsumeb and Mexico, Morocco as well but rare for Greek material. With minimal backlighting, both the large crystal and the small sidecars have the highly-desirable, electric-blue glow from where the light transmits through the translucent portions of the crystals. Strong lighting makes the whole crystal gemmy and transparent. Numerous small tufts of bright, attractive Malachite complement the Azurite and contrast the gossan matrix. Collected in 2017.
