Tinzenite is a very rare mineral species in any quality, and happens to also be beautiful! It contains aluminum (aluminium for you Brits out there), and is a rare member of the Axinite-(Mangan-Axinite)-Tinzenite Series. Rarely do you get large crystals, freestanding on matrix. This balanced, competition level rare species thumbnail specimen has just that, with robust and saturated salmon-flesh colored crystals on a gorgeous matrix of transparent quartz points! The whole thing is simply gorgeous, translucent, and exquisite for the species both for the quality of the tinzenite itself and for the association. This is from a small find collected by Luca Ferrero in Italy, in the early 2000s. It has, since then, been in the systematic rare species suite of the Van Tichelen collection in Belgium. It is not the biggest, but is aesthetically the finest thumbnail we have seen of this material because of the balanced perch on quartz.
