An unusual, elegant, and colorful Hopeite specimen composed of hundreds of reddish, lightly iron-stained crystals of Hopeite that cover the entire front and back side of the piece. Dozens of clusters composed of literally hundreds of glistening, 1 to 3 mm spiky crystals cover the display face. Prevalent iron staining imparts a light to medium brick-red color to these hydrated zinc phosphate crystals making the piece quite attractive. Larger crystals and more ubiquitous iron staining are found on the display side. Old Broken Hill, "Zambia" specimens of any kind are extremely difficult to obtain these days, especially good ones like this which are also aesthetic!
